Indulge Your Senses at Xenses Xcaret Park | Riviera Maya Mexico

Stimulate Your Senses While Enjoying Your Riviera Maya Vacation

Xenses, a part of Xcaret Park, is indescribable, but I’ll do my best.  Your senses will be challenged at Xenses when you explore more than 50 different experiences. Here are some things you will need to know before visiting Xenses. We bought our package, including transportation to and from Xenses park, from the lobby concierge at our all-inclusive resort, but you can also purchase Xenses tickets online. Xcaret’s other most popular parks are Xplor, Xcaret, and Xel Ha. Each has its own distinct attractions, but Xenses is different from these other Xcaret parks and is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. Check Xenses website for discount deals when you purchase three or more parks or two or more parks.

The Iberostar in riviera Maya has four resorts in 1, encompassing all price points.

What to Bring to Xenses Park

When you visit Xenses park, you will need to take a swimsuit, sunscreen, and a change of clothes. We ordered a delicious lunch from the cafe, but there was also a snack bar and a place to purchase souvenirs in the gift shop which is the central hub. There are locker rooms to store items while you are experiencing the park. When we finished with the wet areas, including the water slide and mud river, and relaxing river, we changed our clothes for the outdoor dry areas. Some experiences are more physically demanding than others, but you can pick and choose what you enjoy. You can easily go from one fun activity to another, and there are many fantastic scenarios to choose from at Xenses park.

Purchase the Photo Package at Xenses

This is referred to as a half-day park, but I would plan to spend the whole day there and purchase the photo package. It is worth the cost; you will see the electronic photos the same day. The photo opportunities are endless, but since you are moving through so many areas of the park, it’s easier. and I’m sure you will have better photo memories if you buy their package rather than risk losing your camera or not enjoying the activities to the fullest. If you are dead set on taking your own photos, I’d recommend a waterproof camera or a waterproof pouch for your phone.

Your Wristband Captures Your Photos at Xenses Park

You will be given a wristband to scan throughout your journey to capture your experience. It was the best photo package I have ever seen at an amusement or tourist attraction, and I’ve never regretted buying it.  You are part of large and small optical illusions, and you will not necessarily know where your image fits into the puzzle until you see the photos. Exploring each vignette on your own, you learn what each one represents. Whether you are hugging a giant-sized heart, looking into a kaleidoscope, or flying like a bird, photos of you will be captured for your viewing and purchase at the end of your day. There are kiosks throughout where you can view the photos taken so far.

Overcome Your Fear of the Dark

If you are not afraid of the dark, there is an area where you walk barefoot on a path through a variety of climates in complete darkness.  I am terribly afraid of the dark, but I wanted to challenge myself.  According to the guide, there is nothing that can hurt you. It is purely for you to experience without your sense of sight. Be warned; this is pitch-black darkness. There is a variety of foliage, dry areas, wet areas, and a whole host of sounds from a beach to a forest where you will hear nature including a bee buzzing. Remember, there is nothing that can hurt you. It is constructed with a narrow path, so all you have to do is walk forward. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk through it, so by the end, I felt like I overcame my fear and had a great experience.

Bird flight zip line

Fly Like a Bird at Xenses Park

Afterward, we enjoyed a walk marked with lush foliage in an underground area of caves, caverns, and relaxing waterfalls. There are plenty of photo ops here. Next, we were secured in safety harnesses and sent off to fly outside like a bird. We had no idea when our photos were being taken, but they captured the broad smiles and feelings of joy that were purely a side effect of this amazing experience. The bird flight is a must-do. I have a tendency to have a fear of heights and moving too fast on a zip line, so I was comforted that this was a gentle flowing flight rather than a frightening adrenaline rush. Zip lines have a minimum height requirement of 4.5 feet and a minimum weight requirement of 88 lbs.

Optical Illusions

Outside, we entered a town where it felt like we were walking uphill (another optical illusion) through a village with houses on either side that you can enter for more unusual topsy turvy fun. Back inside, we slid through a river of salt water, a river of mud, and down a steep refreshing water slide.  There was a cave that we walked through that was warm and humid that later turned to cold and dry.  And this is just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to see and do at Xenses that I would suggest allowing yourself the better part of the day to do everything.

Bring Your Appetite

For lunch, there is a great cafe with a wide variety of items for sale with options to eat indoors or else outside.  This area is also full of interesting optical illusions including a display that looks like little round seats, but once you get closer, you see you are actually standing on a typewriter keyboard.  There is a large heart water feature and a bus painted in psychedelic colors with a luggage rack on top full of red and pink hearts that you can board for another fun photo opportunity.

What to Wear at Xenses

You will want to wear your bathing suit because of the many water activities and bring a change of clothes to dry off at some point. Especially if you spend most of the day there as we did.  There is a locker room for your convenience and a gift shop full of interesting items to remember your day or buy as gifts. I highly recommended this excursion.

Photos are provided by Xenses The park is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 7 PM. Children 4 and under are free admission. Xenses Park is located just south of Playa Del Carmen.

Wow I wish this had been there when I visited over a decade ago! Illusion rooms always trip me out, but I love them

With 50 different experiences I am sure that everyone will find a few for them at Xenses Xcaret Park. We would definitely have big smiles if we flew like birds. We would definitely bring out bathing suits and not miss the water activities.

This is such a quirky experience. I’d enjoy this, it reminds me of the optical illusion house in Edinburgh but on a larger scale

I am also terribly afraid of the dark, but that sounds like an interesting challenge to do with friends as a thrill. Interesting place!

This looks so cute. I envy you all those lovely and fun pictures! I’d really like to visit such a park or any kind of interactive exhibit, but most of the time, the big problem is that I’m travelling by myself. So not only do I miss a partner in crime, I also need someone taking my picture….
