Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort in the Dominican Republic

Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort, in the Dominican Republic part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, opened in August 2025. Located 1.5 hours from the Punta Cana airport, the resort features a private seaweed-free beach near Miches, a charming Dominican town that I admit I did not visit, as I spent all of my free time relaxing in one of the beautiful infinity pools facing the ocean with a cool drink from the swim up bar in hand. The property offers multiple infinity pools with ocean views and a variety of amenities designed for relaxation.

Secrets resorts are adult only and are ideal for romantic getaways, friends traveling together, celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and other occasions, solo trips, and even weddings. The resort can arrange special events and celebrations from small to large, thanks to the many private event spaces in the resort. Dreams Playa Esmeralda is family friendly and adjacent to Secrets, making it ideal for celebrations where those with children could stay at Dreams and the adults could stay at Secrets. The Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts offer a range of benefits for group bookings of 10 or more rooms, along with a range of packages for weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, honeymoons, conferences, and meetings.

Travel Advisor with Cruise Brothers

As a travel advisor with Cruise Brothers, I attended my host agency’s annual Boot Camp at the resort. The event provided valuable industry updates, networking opportunities with major travel vendors, and firsthand experience of the resort’s facilities, including the dining and event spaces.

Preferred Club Experience

Cruise Brothers arranged Preferred Club accommodations, which included expedited check-in with champagne, personalized Butler service, and access to exclusive amenities such as a dedicated restaurant, bar, and pool. The Preferred Club experience began at check-in, where my Butler introduced himself and escorted me to a golf cart. I received a tour of the resort before going to my suite. My Butler explained the features of my room and added his phone number to my WhatsApp so I could contact him anytime. Each morning, my Butler sent a message about the activities available in the resort that day, along with the dining schedule for the various restaurants.

Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort Accommodations

The suite was spacious, featuring a king-sized bed, stocked mini bar, living area with couch and table, large luxurious bathroom with a jetted tub, double sinks, private rainfall shower, and private water closet area. The balcony was large with huge comfortable chairs, and the view included the pool area plus views of the ocean. My room was on the top floor, so the chair cushions on the balcony got wet during the several short rain showers. The lower floors were not impacted by the rain because the top floor balconies provided covering. The first-floor rooms had swim out areas, which looked amazing. The rooms all had the Room Service Box, which I have heard is a feature of Secrets Resorts. I ordered room service once for breakfast. I expected it to be delivered to the box, but there was a knock on my door, and the steward insisted on setting everything up for me. I was able to put all of the items in the box when I was finished instead of putting it outside near the door.

Restaurants at Secrets and Dreams

Guests at Secrets Playa Esmeralda have access to all of the restaurants at both Secrets and the adjacent Dreams Resort, which caters to families. Dining options range from Mexican, French, Italian, and Mediterranean cuisine to casual poolside fare. Most of the time I had meals at the Preferred Restaurant that served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each day, they had a freshly prepared green juice at breakfast, which I enjoyed as a start to my day. I enjoyed the Coco Café for coffee and sweet treats like cookies, pastries, and ice cream.

Resort Pools

The resort’s pool areas are a highlight, featuring multiple pools with hot tubs, swim-up bars, and ample comfortable seating. Entertainment and activities are available daily, creating a lively yet relaxing experience. I enjoyed the infinity pools that faced the ocean. I loved getting a drink, then relaxing on the side of the infinity pool, gazing at the turquoise ocean. It was super relaxing. There were some very entertaining bartenders at the swim-up bars that made sure guests had a good time.

Secrets Playa Esmeralda Pristine Beach

I usually divided my time between the pool and the beach. The long, pristine beach was uncrowded, which made it the perfect place to take a relaxing walk. I highly recommend this beautiful resort in the Dominican Republic and look forward to going back someday.
