Three Things You Need to Know About Travel in 2021

Millions of Americans canceled their travel plans last year, myself included.  Some have continued to travel, but the majority are waiting until later this year.  According to InsureMyTrip, travel insurance purchases are up this week for international travel. “For those who decide to travel this year, travel insurance remains top of mind. Travelers are more informed than ever about the value of emergency medical coverage and other key benefits designed to better protect families during the pandemic,” says InsureMyTrip Director of eCommerce Cheryl Golden.

Experts are predicting that the vaccine will create confidence in people who are ready to get back to traveling.  Airfares are expected to be low initially to attract customers, but it is noted that they will rise as the demand for travel increases.  The tricky part will be figuring out when it is safe to travel before the cost increases. “The availability of vaccines and testing will get people comfortable with traveling,” Raymond James airline analyst Savanthi Syth told ABC News. “You’ll see the leisure and the visiting friends and relative travel should come back, relatively quickly.”

For now, travel restrictions are getting tougher.  The CDC announced that starting January 26, anyone flying into the US must provide a negative Covid test before boarding their flight. This includes US citizens, and it applies to travel from all countries, no exceptions. For the time being, travel has been grounded for most of us, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Use this time to research and plan where you want to go, and start saving your pennies now.  Before you know it, you will be packing your bags, buying travel insurance, and most likely still wearing your mask. But rest assured that you will be headed for a sweet destination that you can only dream about right now.
